I am Zamakhosi Mdletshe (Khosi), Deputy Manager: BEE Operations at the Department of Economic Development and Tourism. I am responsible for Women Economic Empowerment. My qualifications are B.Admin and B.A. Honours from the University of Zululand. I have a certificate in Black Economic Empowerment from the University of Free State. My responsibilities include influencing government policies relating to Women and ensuring implementation thereof.
The ILO’s WEDGE-SA programme has improved my performance and has assisted in ensuring that annual skills training targets are met. The training tools have made the Departments implementation easy, especially as skills development is a major part of my work.
I attended the first ILO Training of Trainers of the WEA programme. I resolved to immediately roll out the training to Women Associations, such as Women in Construction, Women in Tourism as well as South African Women's Entreprenurs Network (SAWEN) members in KZN. Later I attended the Expand Your Business training programme. This was also rolled out to Women entrepreneurs in KwaZulu-Natal. I completed the Action My Growth and the Improve Your Exhibition Skills. The AMG has already been rolled out to Women Entrepreneurs. The roll out of EYB and IYES will be completed soon. In the last financial year we were able to train more than 135 women.
Working in partnership with ILO has brought professionalism in that their training programmes have been carefully thought-out and based on research undertaken.
