My name is Ndindasi Kumwenda. I am a Business Consultant based in Mzuzu, Malawi. I took an early retirement from Development of Malawian Traders (DEMAT) in February, 2011.

Early retirement was major decision that affected my entire family. However, with opportunities that I could foresee in WEDGE, I was encouraged to stand on my own. Now I am a certified trainer in two WEDGE tools namely Women Entrepreneurs Association (WEA) Capacity Building, Improve Your Exhibition Skills (IYES) and Action My Business Growth (AMBG). I am currently working towards my certification as WED Capacity Building trainer and finally become a Master Trainer.

I have conducted six training programmes in Malawi in WEA, IYES and AMBG, and there is very high demand for WEDGE tools especially in the northern region of the country. An example is Mzuzu Coffee who would like to encourage more female coffee growers in order to meet world coffee market demands. I have entered into an agreement with Mzuzu Coffee to train their five cooperatives in WEA and WED Capacity Building training.

I was hesitant to go for business consulting, but now all my fears are overcome and I can see a bright future as an independent consultant in Malawi. I thank WEDGE project for offering individual trainers an opportunity to use WEDGE tools in their training portfolio.
